General Elections in India

As you are aware, India, the world’s largest democracy, is currently having its General Elections to constitute the 16th Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament).

With over 814 million voters and the voting taking place in 9 phases during 7 April – 12 May, 2014, the Indian elections are the largest in the world.

Embassy of India, Doha has received several requests from the public, media and other quarters for salient information on the Indian elections. In response to these requests, the Embassy has issued a Press Release containing important information on the elections being held in India currently. A copy of the same is enclosed.
