PUBLIC EVENT TO CELEBRATE THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA
Embassy of India is organising, with the support and cooperation of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Qatar and Indian Cultural Centre & other community fora, a Public Celebration of the first International Day of Yoga on Sunday, 21 June at 2100 hrs at Al Arabi Sports Club.
2. The programme will include remarks by Qatari dignitaries and Ambassador of India; release of a commemorative stamp issued by QPost on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga; a short film and demonstration by Yoga experts.
3. All are cordially invited. Dress for this occasion is informal and in conformity with local customs. Attendees are requested to bring a photo I.D.
4. Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, in his address to the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27 September, 2014 had called upon the UN Member States to work towards adopting an International Day of Yoga.
5. India’s Resolution at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to declare 21 June as the International Day of Yoga was unanimously adopted on 11 December, 2014, with a record co-sponsorship of 177 countries, including Qatar.
6. Embassy of India deeply appreciates the support and cooperation of all the concerned authorities in Qatar for organising various activities and programmes to commemorate the first International Day of Yoga.
