Minister of Commerce and Industry H.E. Mr. Piyush Goyal to visit Qatar

Doha, October 05, 2025

H.E. Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry of India (CIM) will pay his maiden visit to Qatar from October 5-7, 2025 to co-Chair the meeting of the India-Qatar Joint Commission on Economic and Commercial Cooperation with H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar. The meeting is being held in pursuance of the decision taken during the State Visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of State of Qatar to India in February 2025.

2. During the visit, Mr. Piyush Goyal will meet H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar as well as other Qatari dignitaries and top businessmen from Qatar Chamber and Qatari Businessmen Association. A large business delegation from FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM will also be accompanying the Minister during the visit. Both Ministers of Commerce and Industry are also expected to address the inaugural session of the India-Qatar Joint Business Council in Doha. Mr. Piyush Goyal will also interact with the members of Indian community and business leaders in Qatar.

3. India-Qatar economic partnership continues to strengthen, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $14.2 billion in 2024-25. The visit of India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry will further add to the momentum in the partnership and comes soon after the visit of Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs to India on August 27-28, 2025, during which he led a high-level delegation to India and held discussion on a number of projects and sectors for investments.
