In order to promote the Vibrant Terry Towel Global Expo and Summit 2019 (VTGES 2019), a Roadshow titled “ Vibrant Terry Towel 2019” was held in Doha in which H.E. Mr. P. Kumaran, Ambassador of India to Qatar, was the Chief Guest. The Textile Development Foundation (TDF), a leading not-for-profit association works for hundreds of small decentralized terry towel and textile units located in Solapur, Maharashtra. In association with Global Network, an international trade advisory firm based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, they had organized the Roadshow in Doha in collaboration with the Indian Business & Professionals Council, Qatar (IBPC), which was attended by around 50 people from this sector.
The Roadshow was held to promote and highlight the salient features of the VTT GES 2019 which will be a first of its kind event focused on the towel industry in India. The event, scheduled to be held in Solapur, from 25 to 27 September 2019, will bring customers, towel manufacturers, importers, exporters, technologists and traders together on a common platform to discuss, share, debate and celebrate the best practices of the towels industry. VTTGES 2019, will be one of the key commercial milestones of the year with 100 Solapur-based towel companies as exhibitors and several other booths earmarked for yarn manufacturing, machinery, textile dyes & chemicals.
The Ambassador of India to Qatar, who spoke at the event, presented some pertinent facts on trade between Qatar and India. The export from India to Qatar has risen by more than 80% in 2017-18 and is expected to rise further in 2018-2019. He also laid strong emphasis on the key factors that are driving India as a business and investment destination, along with the opportunities emerging in Qatar. He also added that the textile sector of India is the second biggest employer after the agriculture sector. Mr. Azim Abbas, President of IBPC in Qatar, welcomed the promoters of VTTGES 2019 from India and conveyed IBPC’s whole hearted support to Vibrant Terry Towel 2019.
Mr. Anmol Modi, Senior Head - Promotions of Vibrant Terry Towel 2019, highlighted some facts on the home textile sector globally and Indian performance in this Sector. He mentioned the strength of the textile cluster of Solapur and its success in gaining Geographical Indication (GI) status for Solapur Jacquered Towel and Solapur Chaddar (blanket). An invitation was extended to the attendees with details on the benefits for visiting Vibrant Terry Towel Global Expo & Summit 2019.
